Meet the Owner

Hi, I’m Kyla—the designer and founder behind Rae Designs.

I’ve always believed that clothing should be more than something you wear. It should make you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself.

I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design with an emphasis in Fashion Design, along with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Through my education and experiences in fashion, I discovered that my favorite part of the industry is bringing an idea from a sketch to something real that people can actually wear.

Rae Designs is my way of turning that passion into something of my own. I want to create clothing that feels effortless while still making you stand out.

What started as a love for designing and making clothes is becoming something much bigger—and I’m so excited to have you here for the journey.

From a Sketch to Rae Designs

Rae Designs began with a simple idea: create clothing that feels like you.

After years of studying fashion design, sewing, draping, patternmaking, developing textiles, and bringing collections to life, I wanted to create a space where I could design without limits.

The Rae Barrels were one of the first pieces to make that vision feel real. What started as a pair of pants I made for my mom quickly turned into something more when people started asking if they could have a pair of their own.

That moment made me realize I wasn't just making clothes anymore. I was building a brand.

Rae Designs is still growing, and that's what makes this beginning so exciting. Every design, sample, mistake, and breakthrough is part of the story.
